Concerto Competition Winner Emma Jones is a sophomore at UW-Superior, studying flute performance. She has been playing flute since seventh grade, studying under Ms. Melanie Sever. Some of Emma’s favorite musical memories include playing flute and piccolo with the Duluth Superior Youth Symphony, soloing with the Duluth Superior Sinfonia, performing the Chaminade Flute Concerto with the UW-Superior Orchestra, performing in the UWS production of The Fantasticks, playing second flute with the National Symphony of Ghana, and jamming with her family and friends. An upcoming performance she is looking forward to is playing the role of Cinderella in the University’s production of Rossini’s La Cenerentola. Getting to learn and perform the Liebermann Flute Concerto has been such a joy, and Emma cannot wait to share such a shimmery, lyrical, and energetic piece.
